Love 001

13” x 12” x 10”
copper, stone, & wood

In this larger sculpture, a single copper figure stands at the center, hands shaped into a heart—a gesture of warmth and love. All around them, dozens of others gesture with middle fingers. The contrast is sharp and powerful. This piece explores what it means to stay open-hearted in the face of negativity. It draws from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words in “Strength to Love,“:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

A reminder of what it takes to be a light when surrounded by shadow.

The sculpture sits on a hand-finished, oil-rubbed walnut base with a custom copper stand. A small copper nameplate on the stand displays the initials GG and the year.
